Tucson Osteopathic Medical Foundation Announces New Executive Director
May 6, 2013
Steve Nash is the new executive director of the Tucson Osteopathic Medical Foundation (TOMF), replacing Lew Riggs, Ed.D, who retired as director April 30 after serving exactly 25 years.
A native Arizonan, Nash was educated locally at Whitmore Elementary, Catalina Foothills and Canyon del Oro. He majored in journalism and history at Northern Arizona University and earned a law degree from the University of Nebraska -- Lincoln
Nash comes to TOMF from the Pima County Medical Society, where he was executive director for nearly 22 years. Upon learning that he was leaving, the Medical Society created an award in his name that will be given regularly to the non-physician who has most contributed to the improvement of health care in Tucson.
TOMF is a private operating foundation, endowed with funds from the sale of Tucson General Hospital in 1986. The Foundation was instrumental in creating and initially running the Tucson Children's Museum and funding medical school scholarships. Today it is involved in a myriad of physician education and public health initiatives, including the annual four-day Southwestern Conference on Medicine and monthly Trustee Awards given to meaningful projects that improve health in Arizona.
