Community Integrated Paramedicine Program

February 18, 2015

This is called the Rio Rico Fire & Medical District "Community Integrated Paramedicine Program." The term comes from "Community Paramedic " which is trademarked, and so when I first became interested in this concept in 2010, I wanted to use a term that was close enough but did not infringe on TM. When it came to name the program for a grant (we were unsuccessful in obtaining), I called it "Community Healthcare Paramedicine." Since then the concept has gained traction throughout Arizona and in 2014 Arizona Department of Health Services put together a steering group under the term "Community Integrated Paramedicine" (CIP). This is a term I support because this program truly must be integrated into the overall healthcare resources of each community, if it is to be successful.

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Sports Medicine

January 16, 2015

Everyone knows that exercise is an important component in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. However, injury can be an unfortunate consequence from exercise and sports. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as well as the Department of Health and Human Services estimate that over 2 million people are treated in emergency rooms for sports related injuries each year. As a result of these injuries and/or other physical injuries, physical rehabilitation can be necessary. Additionally, when an individual is looking to adopt a healthier lifestyle, they may seek the advice of experts about making this switch as well as how to maintain it. Therefore, we have Jonathan Tait, DO to answer a few questions regarding these topics. Dr. Tait is a 2004 graduate of Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and has practiced in Tucson since 2010. He is board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation by both the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Osteopathic Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is also board-certified in Sports Medicine by the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine. Dr. Tait is the President, Medical Director at Rejuv Medical Southwest, located at 7790 N. Oracle Road, Suite 150. The telephone number for his office is (520) 777-9385.

Vascular and Endovascular Surgery

November 14, 2014

The vascular system is composed of vessels that carry blood all throughout our bodies. Oxygen-rich blood is carried away from our heart by arteries and veins then carry oxygen-poor blood back to our heart. Anytime this complicated and vital process is disturbed, it can cause pain, dysfunction and many more severe complications. Therefore, we have Matthew Namanny, DO, FACOS available to answer a few questions regarding this topic. Dr. Namanny is board-certified in general surgery and is board eligible in vascular surgery. He specializes in treatment of peripheral vascular disease with a special interest in minimally invasive endovascular therapies. Additionally, Dr. Namanny is also a member of the International Society of Endovascular Specialists, American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, Society of Vascular Medicine, and the Edward B. Deitrich Vascular Surgery Society. His office is located at Saguaro Surgical, 6422 E. Speedway Boulevard, Suite 150 and the office phone number is 520-318-3004.
